How Does the Spotify Queue Works?

Sometimes while driving and walking, we all love to listen to our favorite songs, and we all have a more than one favorite songs. Therefore, Spotify introduces a queue feature that alow you to add your favorite songs in a queue and set them in an order as per your preference so that it will be played in the order as you have set them. You can rearrange them in any order by dragging songs up and down in the queue list. Once you create a queue, it won’t be deleted until you delete them, so let’s understand how you can do it.

Clearing the Queue

Clearing the queue in Spotify is easy, but the steps of the desktop app are quite different from those of the mobile app. Although the procedure is easy, it could be difficult for first-time users. There are a few common things for desktop and mobile apps, such as a playlist that cannot be deleted if the user listens to a song from the list. However, other songs from the same list can be removed one by one.

How To Clear The Queue on Spotify on Phone

The Mobile App Way 

This arrangement applies to the Mobile and Tablet versions.

  1. Go to the Now Playing bar at the bottom of the screen. In the tablet version, click the side menu and tap the album artwork.
  2. Tap the Play Queue button at the bottom right corner. The icon has three horizontal lines, with the upper line thicker than the two bottom lines.
  3. Tap the Clear Queue button next to the Next in the Queue header to remove all the songs from the queue. This button is only for manually added songs; it does not appear if you are listening to a song from the playlist.
  4. To remove each song individually, tap the circle next to the songs. Then, tap Remove at the bottom of the screen to permanently delete the song from the queue.
How To Clear The Queue on Spotify on Desktop

The Desktop Way

  1. Click the Play Queue Button In The Bottom Right Corner. The user can easily recognize the icon. It consists of three horizontal lines, with the upper line being thicker than the two bottom lines.
  2. Click the Clear Queue button to remove all the songs listed in the Queue. The button is next to Next in the queue header, and it works only for manually added songs in the queue. Songs from a playlist cannot be removed using this step.
  3. Right-click the Songs to Remove Individually: Each song added to the queue can be removed manually, and this step needs to be repeated to remove each song. To get rid of a song, click Remove from Queue in the contextual menu. The contextual menu is available in three dots near the song.
  4. In MacBook, pressing control and clicking is the alternate option for right-clicking.

If you have a Spotify free version, you won’t be able to create/delete a queue, so this feature is exclusively for Spotify Premium users.
